It was inevitable Super Powers such as Georgia (George Bush's Ally and Namesake!) with Russia and China (The Olympics) would be in the public eye on Friday 8 August 2008. Master numbers and double/triple digits at play i.e. 11, 22, 55, 777, 888............
The emblem of the Olympic Games is composed of five interlocking rings (blue, yellow, black, green, and red respectively) on a white field. This was originally designed in 1913 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games. These five rings stand for passion, faith, victory, work ethic and sportsmanship.
Olympic literature has long held that they signify the five continents of the world. But Coubertin never spoke of “continents” in 1913/1914, only of specific areas of the world “désormais acquises á I’Olympisme.“ Because the Baron originally designed the five ring symbol as a logo for the 20th anniversary congress celebrating the IOC’s establishment, it is probable, as David Young postulates, that Coubertin’s five rings symbolized the five Olympic Games successfully staged before the time of the 1914 Paris proceedings.
